“Who Cares?” is a new independent film about the growing movement of social entrepreneurship. Written and directed by Mara Mourao and produced by Tatiana Battaglia, it documents social entrepreneurs from around the world who have made improving society their mission. It was shot in seven countries: Brazil, Peru, Tanzania, USA, Canada, Germany and Switzerland.
The film was released on April 13 in Brazil with distribution from Imovision and is currently seeking international distribution. The film screened at the 13th Social Enterprise Conference at Harvard as well as the LA Femme Film Festival earlier this month.
“Our goal was to disseminate content about this new way of living life, about what we can learn from this amazing group of people who can look at the world’s biggest problems as opportunities and not impossible obstacles. We truly believe that their work can be very inspiring, especially for the youth. So we have built a strategy to reach people all over the world,” explains Mourao.
Mourao is a director of commercials, documentaries, and feature films in Brazil. The focus of her production company, Mamo Filmes, is content for the international marketplace. The company’s repertoire has won numerous awards and has been seen on prominent television channels such as the Discovery Channel.
