Sage North America released a new report today of its social enterprise and impact investment survey, created to gauge awareness and participation in social enterprise and impact investment.
The report revealed low levels of engagement and awareness in social enterprise and impact investing among nonprofits:
According to the organizations surveyed, the most frequently identified areas that are a fit for impact investment are “health and human services,” “community development”, and “housing.”
The online survey was conducted among Sage nonprofit customers as well as members of the Grant Professionals Association during May and June of 2012 and had a total of 853 participants.
Earlier this year, a survey by Charity Finance of the UK also found that there was little awareness among the general public with regards to the concept of social enterprise.
