Canada is on a roll. Recently, the government announced a Call for Concepts for Social Finance to fund ideas and solutions that help Canadian communities. It also expressed interest in exploring the feasibility of Social Impact Bonds. And social entrepreneurship education is establishing its mark in post-secondary institutions.
Today, the Trico Charitable Foundation announced the Social EnterPrize Awards with prizes totaling over $80,000.
The awards recognize social enterprises and social purpose businesses that have been in operation for at least three years in Canada.
Winners will be able to attend the 2013 Social Enterprise World Forum, which takes place in Calgary this year on October 2-4. Last year, the event was hosted in Rio de Janeiro.
Applications for the Social EnterPrize Awards are open until May 10, 2013.
