For two consecutive weekends beginning May 18, the DBS Marina Regatta 2013 dragon boat and water sports festival will transform Singapore’s Marina Bay into four days of live performances, games, boat races, food, and for the first time this year, a social enterprise carnival.
Together with the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the ministry notorious for nurturing social enterprises in Singapore, DBS Bank organized this carnival to be held at the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade to celebrate and raise the profile of social enterprises.
Over twenty social enterprises will be present on the weekend of May 18-19 and May 24-25.
Among them are Circus in Motion, a circus arts company for at-youth risk, and Bamboobee, a social enterprise employing ex-offenders, at-risk youth, single mothers, and people with disability to make bicycle and bicycle related products using bamboo.
Each social enterprise will give performances or offer merchandise and food for sale.
