On January 17, TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) launched the “100 Campuses in 100 Days” challenge to bring TFT into 100 university and colleges across the United States by April 26.

TFT is a unique social enterprise that tackles two problems at the same time: obesity and hunger.  On one side of the coin, developed countries are consuming excess calories.  On the other side, developing countries are barely consuming calories.  TFT aims to redistribute the imbalance.

Launched in 2007, TFT is a simple, easy to implement, “help me help you” program solving a grand problem.  It partners with restaurants, corporate cafeterias, university dining halls, and other food establishments in developed countries to serve healthy, balanced TFT-branded meals.  A 25 cent charge is added to the price of the meals, which is used to provide school lunches to elementary students in Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and South Africa.  Their motto is “Order for one.  Feed two.  And help the world eat better.”  Nobody eats alone.

The meals carry on average 850 kcal and have a nutritious blend of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.  The program started out in Japan and now exists in 11 countries around the world.

TFT also provided meals for the World Economic Forum in Davos.  In 2011, they were one of five social enterprises to be given the Asia Social Entrepreneur of the Year award.

“100 Campuses in 100 Days” currently has student supporters from 13 campuses and ends in less than three months.
